Dearest Cecillia,
I'm sorry I haven't written in so long. Once more, I've lost all those wonderful blog-worthy moments that speckle my life. I must, however, gush about The Dark Knight
GUSHGUSHGUSHGUSHGUSHGUSHGUSH
Okay, now onto proper gushing. The best superhero movie ever for a few reasons:
1. Themes
The only superhero movie that made it about more than the superhero. USA's ethical battle with internal security, privacy, torture and negotiating with terrorists is masterfully woven into the story. While sometimes you lose touch with the fact that it's about Batman, it can be forgiven considering how they've updated the superhero to today.
2. Action
It was slick. My favourite sequence was the finale where Batman's saving hostages, disarming hostiles and SWAT teams and getting up to the Joker to save to boats full of people. With sonar vision. Told you he was god!
3. Plot
Very very clever. Very nice plot twists. Very nice ending
4. Acting.
No weak performances. Just exceptionally strong ones. Maggie G's character was a little superfluous earlier on in the movie, though she was considerably better than ANOTHER red-haired-love-interest we know. And way less annoying. But then again, Mary Jane is not a good benchmark.
5. Joker
I could have put this in acting but I, like the rest of the world, must salivate about Heath's performance. The effort put into finding that perfect voice, posture and characteristics isn't evident because it comes off as so natural. Onscreen, he IS the scary, anarchic, unrepentant psychopath that makes you shiver, cower, curse and watch the entire movie again. I wish there was more of him onscreen and less of his grand schemes, but I know that that would imbalance that 2 hr-wonder. sigh. I'm entitled to wishing right?
So, now that I can no longer be subjected to the guilt of not watching it, it's time to play the bully. HAHA, NOOBS WHO HAVENT WATCHED IT!
